Williams rose to the position of Tullamore distillery manager at just 25 years old and through his passion for innovation and whiskey making he would leave an enduring legacy on the town Tullamore D.E.W. and Irish whiskey. Tullamore D.E.W. 12 year old special reserve is a triple distilled blend of all three types of Irish whiskey: pot still malt and golden grain. Maturation for 12 long years in old bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks in aromatic warehouses delivers a whiskey which is full of complex flavours and rich smooth character. Creamy and full bodied the taste is spicy with a powerful chocolate flavour amid nutty sherry notes and a real depth of cinnamon and vanilla. Special Reserve This twelve year old special reserve has been aged in old oak bourbon and Oloroso Sherry Casks which impart an exceptionally smooth rich rounded flavour. Tasting Notes Nose Early spice accompanied by red wine while a nice nuttiness follows. A light woody note is also evident bringing to mind the 12 years spent in oak casks. Taste A deep robust taste with spice and linseed oil giving a creamy body and powerful chocolate flavour. Dried fruits and nut accompany the chocolate giving a veritable praline note to the taste. Finish The finish is long and rich with some citrus chocolate raisins and marzipan all lingering.
